Holy Family Knights of Columbus Scholarship


The Knights of Columbus Council # 11981 has established two (2) educational/leadership scholarships to be awarded annually to Senior‘s in High School who are active members of Holy Family Parish. 

The Criteria is:

1.     Each Scholarship is $750.00. The scholarship is based on acceptance at an accredited institution of higher learning, an acceptable grade point average, and involvement in church/community.

2.     All awards under this program will be sent directly to the schools to be applied directly to the scholarships recipient’s account.

3.       The institution may be an accredited two year college; four year college or university; or school of higher learning that provides education and training for a trade (i.e. including but not limited to plumbing; carpentry mechanic, police officer or firefighter. Part time students would be eligible provided however in no event would the award exceed the candidate’s actual tuition costs.

4.     To qualify the applicant must be a High School Senior and a member of Holy Family Parish for at least one year as measured up to the date of High School graduation.

5.      It is expected that each candidate would have a minimum GPA of 2.85 on a 4 point scale and 50 minimum annual service hours. The service hours will be supported by a verification statement(s) signed by a supervisor of the applicable event(s)

6.      To qualify each candidate must submit a complete application package to the Scholarship committee, at the Holy Family Mailbox # 35 no later than March 1st.

7.     The application  package consists of the following:

·         A current personal statement, attested to by a Parent or Guardian limited to 150 words, describing their service hours, participation in High School and Church activities and how that participation has supported the church/community and demonstrated leadership skills.

·         A future statement limited to 150 words, describing the applicants’ major/career plans and how the scholarship would help them reach their goals.

·         Completed verification statement identifying and quantifying project & hours served signed by adult supervisor/leader of the applicable event(s)

·         Official High School or GED transcripts;

·         At least two letters of recommendation. One must be from a Teen Faith Leader; and one must be from a school leader;

8.     All awards will be contingent on successful graduation from High School that year.

9.     The council will notify all winners in writing.

10.  This Scholarship is independent of any other Scholarship that the applicant may be eligible for.
